Swapna is an experienced and DHA licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with extensive knowledge in providing evaluation and treatment of children with speech, language, fluency and learning difficulties. She has also worked with adults who have swallowing, speech and language difficulties resulting from neurological disorders such as strokes, degenerative diseases and traumatic brain injury. Swapna holds a Master’s Degree in Audiology & Speech Language Pathology from Manipal College of Allied Health Sciences in India as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology from the National Institute of Speech & Hearing, India. Her clinical experience includes two years at the Dubai Autism Center where she introduced and trained augmentative and alternative communication (low tech and high tech) modes to non-verbal autistic children, and delivered parent training programmes in the early intervention unit. Prior to this, Swapna worked at the Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs from 2009 to 2013. Before moving to the UAE, she gained valuable expertise as an intern at All India Institute of Speech and Hearing at Mysore, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences in Bangalore, and Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences. Swapna loves to explore ways to implement assistive technology and is enthusiastic about applying research and best practices to facilitate development of language through Augmentative and Alternative Communication. She has a special interest in children with hearing loss and has been actively involved in auditory verbal therapy. She is a firm believer in early identification of language and communication difficulties, and believes in training parents and educators to support children with communication difficulties.
Swapna is the mother of a young daughter. She is a trained Indian classical dance, enjoys listening to music and loves to travel.
