Throughout the years, Sensation Station has embraced and celebrated young children as individuals—each with a unique profile of strengths and abilities. At the same time, we recognise that some children may have extraordinary needs that require extraordinary support—not only for our little ones but also for their families. This is why we created a bespoke programme that will prepare your child to experience their own personal development, personal growth and personal success. Read along as we guide you through our Able-Me Programme.
“I am uniquely ABLE, and I am uniquely ME.”
What is Able-Me?
The Able-Me Programme (Able-Me) is a specialist early intervention day programme offering therapy-based learning support for young children whose current needs may not be met in mainstream settings. It caters to children from 3 to 10 years of age who have unique learning needs—such as those with a diagnosis or have emerging traits of ADHD, ASD or developmental delays. It is also suitable for children who have a wide range of cognitive, adaptive, social and communication difficulties which currently prevent them from coping in a formal school set-up.
Able-Me is facilitated in a safe, supportive and child-centred environment. Apart from our 3 dedicated classrooms, children have access to several bespoke learning spaces which enable sensory play, physical movement, functional routine-building, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy support, among others.
How will my child benefit from Able-Me?
Supportive Learning Setup
Able-Me provides a small-group classroom environment where children grow and learn alongside their peers who are also developing at their own unique pace. Our Able-Me Team ensures that the interests, skills, and current abilities of each child are thoroughly considered and understood.
Character Development
Inside the classroom, children participate in various class activities that are designed to improve their confidence, social interactions, communication, emotional development, independence and other functional skills that will prepare them to thrive in daily life as they grow. Depending on the child’s needs, our team also introduces positive behavioural management strategies that will help and support children to improve and experience significant growth in this area.
Access to Speech & Language and Occupational Therapy
Able-Me offers 1-to-1 Speech and Language Therapy and 1-to-1 Occupational Therapy sessions, each of which is conducted for 30 minutes, once a week, by our in-house DHA-licensed Speech and Language Therapist and Occupational Therapist. There are numerous benefits to receiving therapy support in addition to our day programme; click here to read more about Speech and Language Therapy and here to learn more about Occupational Therapy.
Opportunity to Transition to Big School
We understand that many parents aim to enroll their child into a mainstream school or nursery eventually. As such, Able-Me also extends maximum support for children to develop necessary transition skills and achieve school readiness by incorporating the principles of the EYFS curriculum into our classes.
Overall Centre Experience
We pride ourselves on delivering excellent, ethical and professional practice within and beyond our Able-Me classrooms. From our fully-equipped classrooms and facilities to our highly experienced and passionate staff, we aim to make your child’s Able-Me journey as special and growth-oriented as possible.
Who will my child work with in Able-Me?
Our Able-Me classes are delivered by our seasoned early years-trained class leaders who work closely with our therapy department to produce therapy-based activities to be implemented in each Able-Me class. Our goal is to ensure a fun, supportive and positive learning experience for our Able-Me students each day.
Our dedicated team of early childhood specialists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists discuss the progress of each child, set new goals and plan new strategies to enable the children to reach their fullest potential.
What is the curriculum model of Able-Me?
Able-Me’s curriculum model is mainly tailored to the individual needs of each child—supporting them to make optimal progress in their learning and development. Additionally, our daily classes are based on the ‘Cherry Garden UK Curriculum’ which covers various learning areas such as phonics, mathematical development, reading/letters, physical development, creative development and fine motor skills which are incorporated in daily class activities.
Below are some activities (onto which therapy-based strategies are applied) that our Able-Me students may do in class:
- Reading and spelling activities
- Counting and simple math exercises
- Arts and crafts activities based on weekly or monthly theme, special events, current season etc.
- Storytelling sessions
- Fine motor activities (e.g. writing, cutting & pasting, etc)
- Singing and dancing
- Painting and coloring
- Role play activities for socialisation
- Sensory play sessions
- Yoga breaks
- Free play in our in-house Sensory Gym
- Exciting extracurricular activities (e.g. gymnastics, swimming and other learning-packed field trips)
How long does my child need to stay in Able-Me for?
We believe that every child is unique, constantly learns and achieves new milestones in their own time. While Able-Me runs for a full academic year (September to July – 10 months term), we are happy to welcome newcomers at any point. The duration of a child’s stay will mainly depend on the plans and goals set for each of them. In other words, your child’s Able-Me journey will be as completely unique as they are.
